Tom,

I have been playing my set of Blackstone irons for four years now which includes going to the range regularly and playing three to four times per week. They show some wear on the soles but it is minimal. Obviously the sole of the sand wedge has worn and I would assume that if you play a sand based course like they have in Florida and parts of Texas you will see wear on the soles of the irons over time. However, the faces of my clubs (the important part for alignment), look almost new. What you have to remember is that regular stainless steel irons will also wear over time but you don't notice it because the underlying steel is basically the same color as the finish on the clubheads.

The shafts are black steel, not painted and should never show any wear whatsoever.
