I just saw that on the Dicovery Channel, or, How Do They Do That, channel a few weeks ago. Each turkey hen was inseminated by hand. Just like working on a production line making widgets. ONE by ONE! The ol' Broad Breasted gobblers are so large they can hardly walk much less court the ladies! One time while at the feed store they had some poults and I purchased five. I raised four gobblers and one hen. Two months before Thanksgiving, I put them up and fed them nothing but corn. You talk about some good eating. Anyway, the gobblers were so large we quartered them before putting them in the freezer. I had to get my Uncle to help me with the processing because they were so large. The hen dressd out out at a measely nine pounds. The gobblers, well, one dressed out at thirty pounds! I never did raise anymore of the Broad breasted breed after that.
