Look Steve Perry wil never return to Jouney except for doing a live dvd for Escape. Perry will never return to that band. Greg Rollie who is the unsong hero in all this. Greg, Vallory, hardly get any press. IS ANYONE AWARE THEAT STEVE SMITH, GREG ROLLIE AND ROSS VALLORY FORMED THE STORM. OPENED FOR BRIAN Adams and made another album. Journey has a great history, both Ross Vallory and Jonathan Cain get very little press. I think at some point you have Journey, do a show, with Perry, DUMBAR, Rollie AND Neil, than have Steve SMITH, Jonathan Cain.Ok Robert Fleshim can play "Wheel in the sky" with DUMBAR.

Captured is truly a pinnacle album. I personally wore out many copies of it even though I couldn't get to see them live at the time... I could in my mind This album captures the spirit, sincerity and intensity of the mega touring Journey as Greg Rollie decided to settle down for awhile and even hired his new replacement on keys. "Dixie Highway" written on the tour bus is one of my favs as well as "The Party's Over" which should have been longer (but as I understand had to be rerecorded) with maybe another verse or more jamming or Steve Perry soloing on bass...now that woulda been cool. This album not only "captures" the band but the audience...pure, raw loving and sincere. This work always reminds me of another band called Airkraft. Crisp, clean Production and energetic. You want a rush... play "Captured" on vinyl, close your eyes and feel the music and emotion!

¿Qué puedo decir? Absolutamente genial. Yo compré este CD, por sugerencia de una excelente amiga de USPFC. Ella me dijo: "Catalina, aquí tú puedes escuchar a Steve hablando".

Gracias mil Steve y Journey. Ustedes ya han pasado a la posteridad y están dentro de los grandes genios musicales del rock.

Un TREMENDO abrazo y mis sinceros agradecimientos por permitirme disfrutar de la magia de JOURNEY.

Greggs first 2 solo albums are unfortunatly now out of print. I am fortunate to have both of them on cassette and I like them both. They are titled 'Gregg Rolie'and 'Gringo'.
Actually had one of them get eaten in my cassette player and managed to amazingly find another copy in a bargin bin at the time!

Captured....Journeys 2 disc live album really captures the best of the old classic lineup before Greg Rollie left the group. Starting off with a rocking rendition of "Where Were You" the group easily goes into the the Perry/Rollie duet of "Just The Same Way." both songs showcase Journey's rock sensibility while not dimenishing the dynamics of Perry's voice. Next up is "Line of Fire" from the Departure album...this song sounds much better live then it did on the original studio recording because there is far more raw energy in it. The band then goes into their first chart success "Lights" which easily slips into "Stay Awhile." When performed live it's easy to think these two songs were written togather although they appeared on two different albums. Steve Perry's song about warning a friend to stop taking drugs "Too Late" really shows off his vocal talents. A classic road song "Dixie Highway" has a lot of twists and turns in it that make it a great rocker with the classic line "love is feeling fancy and free..." Greg Rollie's organ is really showcased on this number. Another Perry/Rollie duet originally highlighted on the Infinity album "Feeling That Way" starts off the vocally chellenging "Anytime" another gem from the group's first album with Steve Perry. "Do You Recall" another cut from the Departure album once again sounds much better on this live version. Steve Perry's blues roots and song writing talents are shown on "Walk Like a Lady"...a great blues rocker that shows off Steve's vocals and Neal Schon's guitar. Another great rocker from the Infinity album "La Do Da" leads right into the band's first genuine hit (also written by Perry)... "Lovin Touchin Squeezin." The band ends the show with two Journey cornerstones "Wheel in the Sky" and "Anyway You Want It." The live album does end with one studio cut "The Party's Over (Hopelessly in Love)" another solo attempt by Perry.
This album really does highlight the best of the band's early days with Steve Perry while founding member Greg Rollie was still in the band. It also captures the energy of their explosive live shows. Great band and great album!
