ICONS: A WONDERFUL SHOW!

As many may have read here online, Jade Esteban Estrada is back in St. Louis touring with "Icons: The Lesbian and Gay History of the World, Volume 1".
Some may remember Jade from his multiple performances at past Pridefests. His performances onstage at Pridefest have always been filled with showmanship and wonderful attire. His stage presence is just as colorful.
In "Icons", Jade shows us multiple men and women who throughout history have influence, guided, and aided the GLBT Community. The timeline extends from ancient times to current (recent) events. And through each, Jade dons a different costume and accent for each.
Unlike some stage shows which have scene changes and intermissions, this show continues from start to finish as one scene. The difference here is that Jade is one who changes from scene to scene.
The night I saw the performance was the first night, and as with any stage shows, opening night has some missteps... But Jade, in true performer style, adlibbed through them, sometimes to the amazement of the crowd who didn't realize it wasn't intentional.
I would highly recommend anyone interested in an entertaining way to look at GLBT History to be sure not to miss Jade's show while it is still here in town.
With luck, the next time he comes through time (with Volume 2) the stage where he performs will have a better microphone arrangement, as sometimes he would move out of Microphone range. For opening night's performance, it wasn't a problem, but in a packed house it could be noisy. (To Jade's credit, he doesn't really NEED a Microphone.)
And a tip for those out there who attend: Yes, he *IS* interacting with the crowd. Some actors will interact with a "fake" audience. While Jade does that at times, he really IS trying to interact with the audience... which caught the audience a bit off guard at first. But it does bring the audience into the performance.
A big thanks to Jade Esteban Estrada for his performance and for bringing it to St. Louis!
Again, don't miss the show! He will be performing here in town through Sunday, November 23rd at 5000 Washington Place. For information go to: IconsOfHistory.com
