Wu er is located West-South West of Taichung city. It is the location of the the Taichung High Speed Rail Station

It is linked to Taichung through a new expressway connected to both National Highway 3 nd 1.

Taichung county in recent years has done far more than Taichung city in terms of use of English in public facilities and tourism.
On the negative side Taichung is the organized crime capital of Taiwan and possibly East Asia. Notorious for drugs, prostitution and drive by shootings the city itself has no real infrastructure outside of heavily used and obstructed roadways and totally unusable side walks where they exist. Traffic is a major problem as personal motor vehicles are the only reliable form of transportation.
Public transport in Taichung city and county is still based on public buses that have proven to be unreliable and unsafe.
