Hey Aristotle:
Over a week and no response from anybody, not even you.
No new posts on this board either. It all probably means the message I have for you is too late to make any difference. The bad guys have probably already beaten you down, like they usually do to people like you. You're probably already bitter and full of hate; much of it directed towards yourself. You've probably lost your confidence. And if you're not an alcoholic by now, I'll genuinely be surprised.
I can imagine how you felt setting up SSETT. The excitement and satisfaction of doing something right - not just for foreigners in Taiwan but for everyone in Taiwan. How you expected people to join and to care. How it felt to pick an image of Che for your icon (damn, that's awesome). How you never wanted to be in the forefront of the movement, but just to inspire everyone from the back. To make a difference.
It's a screwed up world, my friend, when people with soul and courage and integrity get beaten down by god damned little bastards like "Brian" - of whom I am almost certain is a shill for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, ICRT, or some office in the Taiwanese Gov't.
I'm so sorry I didn't get in contact with you earlier. Don't know for sure, but maybe I could have made a difference.
Truth is, Aristotle, that I've followed your efforts for several years. And in one of the last posts from you I remember seeing, you said something about how "most Chinese people are corrupt" or something along those lines. It was then I understood that the bastards had really and totally won. Only the most bitter man could say words like that. And if you look into your heart - you'll realize you didn't mean them. Those are the echoes of the deepest frustration. All it means is they finally beat you down into the dust.
I doubt it'll make any difference to you by now, but you should know that you are in good company. Kenneth Nichols, Cesar Chavez, Jim Garrison, J.H. Hatfield, Martin Luther King, Margie Schoedinger, Ralph Nader, Mahatma Gandhi, Ted Gunderson, Jack Kevorkian...I could go on and on.
Aristotle, you are a HERO. Wherever you are now; however down on yourself you may be, I don't want you to ever forget that.
If only there were more people like you in this world, it could be a good place.
