I want to get out of a very nasty contract, written in English, that I signed under time and financial pressure. It says that if I leave, or if they fire me, they don't have to give me my pay. This contract is not legally valid, because it has different dates on it from the one in Chinese which I signed for the ARC application - and a different school name. I have no idea what it says in the Chinese version because they have not given me a copy - they told me it was the same as in the English version, but I doubted that not paying someone could possibly legal, and while the Chinese contract is about one page long, the English version is four pages - so they can't be the same. Is either contract legally valid, and can they carry out their threat of not paying - they are desperate for teachers. If they fire me without pay, is there anything I can do? Also, what is the notice they have to give me, or can they fire me on the spot?
