It wasn't until I started building my own site when I discovered exactly how much information a webmaster can get about visitors (without even trying, by the way).
To answer your question, YES, the forum TEALIT uses CAN get your IP address and if this is a static IP they know exactly which computer you use. (Dave's and other that use the same program like my site are the same). Then yes, it is possible (but I can't say tealit if does this or not) to restrict your useage of certain parts of the site. (Dave CAN'T do it b/c his site's 50 years behind the monkeys and he's afraid to update after the Jobs forum fiascos)
In summary there is no anonymity on the internet anymore. The best you can hope for is that the webmaster is concientious enough to either use the information concientiously or better yet not to use it at all.
