early months of this year, a well-seasoned army of Taiwanese-American
lobbyists did their usual thing, circulating petitions and knocking on
the doors of members of Congress.
The focus this time was on a national defense referendum that would be
decided by Taiwanese voters on the same day as the presidential
election, with the lobbyists promoting the measure to San Gabriel
Valley politicians as a triumphant display of Taiwan's young democracy
at work.... "
How ironic it is that Taiwanese in America can not only promote a political candidate publically. The can even become one.
Here in Taiwan any Non-Chinese who dares so much as to even speak at a political gathering will be arrested, fined and deported.
