Shattered Dreams
Threads from different pasts
we wove into our present
while tentatively dreaming
of a future life together.
Perhaps we were naïve
to allow our dream to invade
our daylight waking hours.
Now those fragile threads
so tight around my heart
have been brutally broken
my life, like them, in tatters.
