Why do you think that man is necessarily evil? Is it because of Adam? Adam must be judged for his own transgression. We will be judged according to what we do in life, not on what Adam did so long ago.

You're right, God does not control every event. He doesn't make airplanes late to their destinations for some mysterious purpose, though he could if he wanted to. He doesn't stop murderers or child molesters even though he could because humans need the chance to shoose for themselves. The only reason why we are here on earth is to see if we can have faith and do good works away from the prescence of God where we can't know for sure if what we do has a purpose.
