In reply to: Confused 's message, "How is it legal to take money for underage kids to dance while not paying kids? It seems very wrong." on 07:54:43 03/23/17 Thu

I get so tired of dance outs that our kids never see a penny from. Yes, teachers, schools, etc. should get their share. But I know for our family, my child did EIGHT dance outs the week of St. Patrick's day and we will never get a dime in any way, shape or form. I'm not asking for a check. But it would be nice to see at least PART of it go into a Nationals, Oireachtas, etc. fund. We leave the house 45 minutes early to travel to something, meet up a half hour before dancing, pay to park if downtown, spend gas, run long, and the kids get hungry, invariably buying food of some sort no matter how many snacks that are packed. Most of these events for our school are used as advertisement. And I know for a fact that some of these events pay several hundred dollars for us to go. Why shouldn't the dancers benefit from that?? I'm not talking about a payday...but if the school makes $200 and there are 10 kids dancing, it seems reasonable to me that $10 goes into each kid's majors fund, etc. and the other $100 could go to the school. Have I just done too many of these to think logically anymore??
