Whether or not you agree with his beliefs or tactics (I have mixed feelings about both myself), it would be hard to argue that Fahrenheit 9/11 is not one of, if not THE, most important film released in America this year (sorry, folks, I'm just not INTERESTED in the Passion...no disrespect, but I'll catch it on cable in a couple years). It is the work most likely to influence people's feelings about the presidential race, which itself may be the most important election for the direction of this country since 1980, or even 1968 (and yes, I know Republicans won both of those elections). The film is waking up the non-voting public and polarizing them toward one side or the other. Some see it as a call to get Bush out of office, while others go out of their way to dismiss it and reaffirm their faith in Bush. I have not seen it (as Central Illinois is rather conservative and it's not playing much down here), but I intend to, and plan to make up my own mind about it, and not listen to what Bill O'Reilly says about it. I urge others to do the same, think for yourselves on one side or the other, and then let's discuss it. Until then, we're all stumbling in the dark here.
