I think the state of the game is the best it's been in more than 10 years - baseball is back and better than ever - I point to the NL All-Star Outfield - at what point in history has there been an outfield like THAT assembled - any all-time team couldn't get too much better. I think that's my favorite story of the year, along with the return of Ken Griffey Jr. to prominence, Paul Molitor going into the Hall, and the very real move toward parity that we're seeing this year - once again the A's and Twins, along with upstarts like the Brewers and Indians are having great years while the Big Spending Orioles are sucking it up. It's not the NFL yet, but it's a heck of a fun season already.

As for predictions - here are my mid-season calls:

AL East - Yanks
AL Central - Twins
AL West - A's
Wildcard - Rangers

ALCS - Yanks V. A's
AL Champs - A's (Finally)

NL East - Phillies
NL Central - Cards
NL West - Dodgers
Wildcard - Cubs

NLCS - Philles v. Cards

NL Champs - Phillies

Series Champs - Phillies

AL MVP - I. Rodgriguez
AL Cy Young - Mark Mulder

NL MVP - Scott Rolen
NL Cy Young - Roger Clemens
