Welcome. If you're an addict and have been able to get clean and sober, you may be able to help other addicts. I am really struggling with a heroin at this time. I don't know what to do, I really want to go to detox, but no one will give me the time of day because I don't have health insurance. I live in Western Maryland, but I would travel great lengths to get clean. I was in recovery for well over a year, and I can't believe I let this happen. If anyone knows how to get some help detoxing without health insurance, please let me know.

My boyfriend is 19, used to use a lot, then got hepatitis c and it scared him into quitting. He was clean when we met and moved in together. I'm 21 and work two jobs. He got fired. I have suspected something was up after that but didn't know for sure. I searched his car and found everything he needed to shoot it except heroin. He stopped himself last time, taking suboxins and staying away from everyone. He started hanging out with the same people as before. He's been getting money from me and his mom and his step dad because none of us knew until I found it. I gave him the option to stop contact with his "friends" and go to counseling or some kind of outside help. He promised he would and the next day he talked to them, one I know is a dealer. But it's never about him. It's always someone elses stuff that he's holding. He's never stolen anything but I know he sold his playstation. He said he has done it once in the 6 months we have been together. He snorted it and felt like shit for doing it and went home to take the coldest shower possible. He tells me he doesn't want to do it he hates it he doesn't have a problem because he just messed up once. I told him it's either inpatient rehab and stay away from everyone that does it (which is everyone he is friends with) or I'm gone. I don't know if he is going to do it. He told me he doesn't want to because he doesn't have a problem and it's not bad enough to have to go to inpatient and that I'm being unfair. Am I? Am I being too harsh? Someone help me to see I'm not abandoning him because it sure as hell feels like it.

I've heard that some female addict's share there drugs with there babies sometimes new born, feelin they are sharing there only precious thing, please someone expail if they have any idea, fear my friend has done it to her addicted baby, she cries all the time... why would she do it? do you think?

While cleaning my daughters room yesterday I found something that was dark brown not actually gooey but not hard either in a used film canisterover with a paper towel and help on with a ponytail holder. In looking on the internet everything comes up as either heroin or mexican black tar (the other form of heroin). Could anyone please let me know what I am dealing with and how to help my daughter. Thank you

this is the 5th time i think i have tryed to beat h. I have used methadone, subutex, suboxone.. cold turkey.. and it seems sometimes like a am meant for this life.. why me? i hate to feel pity on myself.. but sometimes thats all the energy i have left to give out..i feel as if i am no one.. i have a great family and boyfriend (also the same as me) friends, good job.. never lost anything.. but my self respect.. i want someone to tell me what they did when they were clean its my 2nd day clean.. i feel good.. i did subutex.. ahh. i want this pain to end.

This is Allen's sister. I think you signed his guest book for his obituary. PLEASE do whatever you have to to stay clean. E-mail me. This has been the hardest week of my life. I had to bury my baby brother yesterday. I know your message was from a few months ago, but do whatever you can to stay clean.

He needs help and I don't know what to do! He told me he was getting off of it but can't! He stole money from my parents...he steals anything he can. He tried meetings but he says when he is done and leaves the meetings he is thinking about it and wants it even more. On his way home he sees his dealers and goes to get it. He needs help but he is not going to get it on his own. Do you know anything I can do to help him!?

We have alot in common...I am dealing with my baby brother's addiction...he fell victom to this demon also..You could try calling your local coroners office. If he has become a threat to someone or himself They should come get him..If that doesn't work (if you are religious) Sometimes you got to give it to God... There is really not a damn thing anybody can do for an addict..They have to want help...I know it sucks...I am soOoO sorry you are having to deal with your brothers disease...Just be there for him, it's not all his fault...This is a really strong disease....it's not a moral weekness...It is like cancer. Nobody asked to have ,ust like our brothers didn't ask to addicts! I wish you and your family the absolute best!!! ~Lindsey

My mom has a herion addiction almost 12 years now. She has tried detox programs but they never helped her cause my stepfather uses too. He always brings her back down. I love my mom and am not sure what to do because I am afraid she won't be around much longer if anyone has any suggestions post them. Thank You

Hi Jeff, First off you need to remove yourself from those that use and the places that you normally go to. If you are continually around users chances are you will use. Not using takes alot of work and lifestyle changes. It is difficult to quit but look at the alternative! Go into inpatient rehad and change you thinking. This is a disease and can be treated with the proper attitude and programs but you have to be willing to give up those you think are your friends, those that use. They are not your friends, because if they were they would support you. Support of family is also a biggie..Hang in there and don't give up..>

hi my boyfriend is a crack addict and i dont know where to go to help him we tried the easter seals clinic that helps people with drug problems and other problems but they didnt take him seriously, because it looked like he didnt have any problems but he needs help and i dont know what to do or where to go can someone please help me???

Keep it simple if u dont pick up u wont use, stay away from the ones who use ,try to get with poeple u know who don't use. I been in & out of all drug addictions and what i have learned is u need another addict who has some clean time to help u. if I can help let me know?
P S You need a desire to want to stay clean life does get better.
