Subject: New to Whites

I'm an animal control officer. My husband is a veterinarian. We just adopted a white female rescue. She's wonderful. Has no inherited disorders--retinas, heart, thyroid, skin/allergies, are all non remarkable. Her temperament is typical Doberman; strong with other dogs, polite with people she knows, willing to give strangers a chance. We are interested in info on her longevity and health problems to watch for. I've been bombarded with info from the Doberman Rescue club that whites are undesirable. But I remember when Dobermans in general were the devil dog of the 70's (now it's fighting breeds), and I remember when White German Shepherds were thought to be a blight as well. Looking for GOOD research and opinion from experts--not anectdotal stuff. Thanks for any assistance.

Didi
