I own a gorgeous white 1 year old female, whom I do intend to breed. My girl, Iris, is AKC registered, and has remarkable hearing, eye sight, skin, health, confirmation, gait, and is extremely trustworthly with our family. She is reserved around strangers, and it does take some time to get to know new people. She is a great guard dog and an EXCELLENT family dog, trusting each and every member of the family, obeying their commands and respecting them. I have taken her in public and have gotten comments such as "sure she isn't blind?" (where I respond "Would she move her head up and down as I move a toy up and down otherwise??") or "sure she isn't deaf?" (where I respond "Would she cock her head sideways with a squeek of a toy otherwise??)
Some people thought she was a very light weimeraner (before her ear cropping, that is.) Iris is skittish around strangers, but is always quick to walk up to people and lap their hands in public, although she does stand back to watch their reaction. In fact, I had some tape on Iris ear the other day when I walked her in a pet shop to help support it. A child, probably 8-9 years old, walked up to Iris and started grabbing for her ear asking "Why is there tape on her ear." I was upset at the mother for letting the child approach a strange Doberman Pinscher like this, but luckily Iris walked up to the girl and kissed her hand! This was very good for Iris because she is very very skeptical of strangers. Iris' also had over 280 porcupine quills removed a couple of weeks ago. The staff said she wasn't the slightest bit aggressive, and only got nervous when all 3 staff surrounded her to put her on the table. Also, after only 2-3 visits, she has learned to trust a relative nearly 100% already. She lays on her, kisses her, nudges her, and gives her paw. Iris is extremely smart, knowing numerous commands, and sometimes I dont have to speak with her...she knows how to "read" me. I give one look, she goes into the other room. I give another look, she lays down, so on and so forth. She's a great animal. Healthy. Normal. Gorgeous. White Doberman haters are SHALLOW RACIST people and are VERY barbaric. I've gotten numerous emails where people actually insult me, my kennel and breeding practices. Are you considering a white doberman? Before listening to one of the insane white dobe haters, VISIT a white dobe kennel. Talk to reputable white doberman breeders (Yes, there are such things, despite the myths! and I'm striving to become one.) Vist white dobermans, look up health history and SEE FOR YOURSELF how normal these remarkable creatures are.
