The AKC Board considered a request from the Doberman Pinscher Club of America to apply the "WZ" prefix to the registration number of any Doberman Pinscher brought into the registry through the conditional Registration system, as well as their offspring. This is the same prefix used to identify potential carriers of the white gene. While this would affect very few dogs, the Board was reluctant to establish this type of precedent of treating a dog as if it were a potential carrier of the white gene with no information or evidence to substantiate this. Following a motion by Dr. Garvin, seconded by Mr. Merriam, it was VOTED (affirmative: Dr. Garvin, Mr. Merriam, Mr. Goodman, Ms. Scully, Dr. Newman, Mrs. Strand, Mr. Keene, Dr. Davies, Mrs. Schaefer, Mr. Gladstone, Mr. Marden; opposed: Dr. Haines; abstaining: Mr. Menaker) to respectfully decline the request.
