Well, the days are getting shorter, the weather's getting colder, and our beloved faire season is about to end. But The Dancing Gypsy is still up to lots more! If you're looking for some Gypsy and/or Middle Eastern themed fun for the Samhain (Halloween) season, here are a few events we are participating in (and hosting!):
Saturday October 25 - NBDA Bellybuttons present "Veiled In The Shadows, A Haunted Hafla" 12-8pm at the Oxford Community Center, 4 Maple Road Oxford, MA. I will be performing a duet with fellow Dancing Gypsy teacher Loreli during the evening show, in a piece called "Witch Queen of New Orleans". Also, my hubby, Diabolis drummer Brian LeDuke, will be teaching a beginner drum workshop in the afternoon. The hafla features vendors and workshops all day long, and the proceeds go to a worthy cause: UNICEF. Only $15 for the whole day -- or $5 if you just want to see the show, which starts at 6pm.
Friday October 31 - Some Enchanted Evening in Spencer, MA presents their first "Witches Ball", and we will be doing our "Witch Queen" piece there as well. The Ball is from 7-10pm and will feature psychic readings, a spiral dance, food, hot cider, costume contest, door prizes, and more. They are transforming their hundred year old barn into a magical Samhain party! Admission is $25 in advance or $35 at the door and includes one 10-minute psychic reading. Saturday November 1 - The Dancing Gypsy Grand Opening Party and Hafla! At 117 Main Street, Spencer MA from 12-6pm. Free henna body painting by Maria of "Ancient Fire Henna" from 1-3pm. Dance and drum demonstrations by our teachers from 4-5pm. Drum and music jams throughout the afternoon -- bring your drums and jam with us! Complimentary light refreshments at our Oasis Tent. Come see all the new and exciting merchandise that has just arrived - books, DVDs, costumes, clothing, jewelry, and more! "Be there with bells on" for an exotic wrap-up to your Halloween weekend.
