Subject: Matching repaired finish to existing walnut finish

Folks,

I recently restored a walnut dining room table. I stripped, sanded, grain filled with Casco filler, and topcoated with Zip Guard High gloss...sanded it out with wet or dry up to 2000 grit, and buffed. The problem...a couple leafs had minor blemishes...tried to sand through finish and retouch. It's darker there than rest of finish. Re-did the patches, this time re-filling with Casco filler, but still the patched areas are darker. Anybody have a suggestion short of stripping both leafs and starting over?

Thanks,

George H
