Subject: Bandsaw Recommendations

Good Morning Fellow Woordworkers,

I'm looking for recommendations about some band saws. I have a little Harbor Freight 9" benchtop bandsaw and I've used it for a lot of stuff, but it's time to upgrade to something with tighter tolerances and a bit more power.

I'm most interested in information concerning throat capacity sizes, blade sizes, and horsepower.

Is 12" throat capacity good or should I go for a 13.5"? Is 1.5 hp good enough for general hobby woodworking?

I enjoy building furniture and gifts so the saw would be used primarily for those functions (with some secondary use making curves for decorative flair).

I may also try making some veneers with it, though I believe I'll mostly be employing it to resize stock.

Thanks for any suggestions or personal experiences, what you would have done differently, and anything else you think is relevant (including suggestions on brand/models!).
