Subject: wood lathe

Hi wood turners. I have been looking for equipment for my soon to be shop. I can't understand the Nova and Laguna digital lathes at $1,500-$3000. I see a Shop fox and/or Grizzly 16-43 inch lathe, new for under $800 delivered. yes, they do not have continuously variable speeds, but I can't really see much need for say 837 rpm as compared to 800 or 900. I do see a lowest speed of 600 in the shop fox, and might want lower, but these seem to have adequate size, allow for outboard turning, weigh in at 350 pounds, which seems okay for most work. Am I missing something? - David
