In general, you should cut mortises in the legs that are about 1/2 the leg thickness to receive tenons from the aprons. You can miter the ends of the tenons if needed. This makes a very strong joint that will not rack under normal loads.

If the legs are the same length and you build the table square then it will sit flat and not wobble.

Cabinetmaker buttons or dovetailed keys are excellent ways to attach a solid top to the aprons.
