Subject: Making wood laminate hinges

Have a 5'x5'x16" wardrobe (museum quality?) with wood laminate hinges. The 2 hinges on the right door got broken. Replaced with hinges carved out of plastic - stained to look like wood. Would like to replace hinges with wood type. Does anyone know anyone skilled in laminates? (have tried twice with solid wood and wood with fiberglass axle core - both failed immediately. Thanks.
