Date Posted: 06:22:29 12/09/03 Tue the show on the 6th of Dec was just a show, the winners were all predetermined!!.. the result was the same to the "prediction" of a guy few days b4 the show night. Among the photos taken by the hired photographer sent out to the pagent girls for personal collection, 99% were for the top 5 and winners. so the question is "How did the photographer predict so precisely who the winners are going to be when the show just started?". Also, a few TVB workers at the backstage were disclosing the number of the winner by showing hands to the other people b4 the result was annouced... |

Date Posted: 05:42:30 12/09/03 Tue The girls were very disappointed when downloaded the photos from the emails sent to them. the 7 girls who didn't get into the top 5 are very sad to find that among the entire show, only 1 or 2 photos were taken for them by you -- some one who they treat as a friend and thought to be fair. Thanks for that~~ Maybe they shouldn't blame you since perhaps you were told by TVB b4 the show to "look after" the predetermined winners and "ignore" the rest. |

It's so inconveniant that Lola is in HK atm & unable to attend the pageant (I just can't be bothered...hehe) so on behalf of miss_sydney_chinese, I apologize 4 our lack of follow up on this year's pageant...we (or lola promise to do better next time)! Also, I know that there r quite a few ppl who are just as curious to meet lola as they are to see the pageant :p In the meantime.....who won??? |

The fact that #5 be the Miss Sydney Chinese crack this comment. The fact that #9 cannot got into top three also prove that these comments are incorrect. The fact that #9 got into top 5 is because others were worse on the stage. |

Date Posted: 20:29:16 11/19/03 Wed or maybe its just that they aren't done up yet since the power of makeup can tranform one a fair bit.... any info on the contestants...some look like overseas students (FOB) like from mainland (not being racist or anything)...can they at least choose some who has permanent residency and can speak english so they can communicate properly with other contestants in mci and actually represent an english-speaking city. They should choose ppl who can speak canto coz they have a higher chance in mci and mainland girls always gets made fun of... i cant even see one who looks ok except for the mix one who has a lovely smile (no 2) and the others are like no comment...some are so big. Saw a few pics and possible winners are 1,2 and the rest is.... just wondering....do they measure u or just use the measurements u provide... i read somewhere is this forum that its better if u were under 20...wouldn't it be better if u were in low 20s like with a degree and more experience...coz mci and mhk are normally more mature young ladies like 21 or 22...coz under 20 is a bit young |

Also the height #5 Mina - her official photo is...but she's quite pretty in real life #6 Amanda - TVB must've done wonders for her...she looks good in all her photos (excepting audition photo)...she should be Miss photogenic bcoz...well, her photos compared to her actual person... #7 Nella - I reckon she's pretty...but not photogenic #8 Tina - her height is definitely a plus #9 Vicki - reminds me of MSC 2000 Melissa Leong. Date Posted: 15:18:52 11/16/03 Sun TVB's comps were never fair, miss sydney or international singing comps~~~ I watched these comps so many years to know everything behind these comps take this year's miss sydney for example, it's sponser's power to put girls into the final and this year's singing comps, it's sponsers power that made some guy who can't even sing in key and can't perform on stage in the final to become 1st runners up. personally I think Allen sang much better so people get ur eggs ready on the night, if sponser's gal wins any price, they will going to have a hell of a job to clean up the stage with all the egg throwing! |

They might be disadvantage when compared with others. #1 is good but needs to reduce her waist to 24. #3, 4, 5's breast are too small (sorry). Whoever made that comment about Miss Sydney Chinese being for CHINESE and NOT Miss Sydney Hong Kong is sooo rite!!! I mean i am from HK too...in case ne1 think im biased... I reckon the perfect gal would actually be a mainland gal (not mainland looking like Yuan Ding (gal in black tube dress in 2003)...speaks perfect English AND Cantonese (and mando of course), and of course good looking :) haha... In relation to Maree Lau...did ne1 know dat her parents own a hair salon in Sussex Centre??? lol...well the point is, Maree Lau has the maturity of Sonija Kwok, she carried herself really well at MHK & dats why she won... Kit Wong...dat was the beginning of TVB's settlement in Australia, I believe that Kit won because she had what it took to be MCI but also bcoz TVB had to promote TVBA at dat time...also...Kit was up against MHK Monica...which was not altogether real competition :( Ada wasnt really a STRONG strong contestant at MCI, her height had something to do with it as well as the fact that her english was a little...well... Whereas Susie speaks english quite nicely!!! There u go, one Sydney contestant who can speak good english!!! And she isnt from mainland either! In fact...there arent THAT many mainlander winners at Miss Sydney... |

The title of Miss Sydney Chinese can only be used for event organised by TVB and other than that no one cannot use such title. There was Miss Singtao Chinese in 2002. The winner didnot crowned as Miss Sydney Chinese 2002. The fact that Singtao organised such event was because they want to celebrate their 20 anniversaries in Australia and want to make big publicity in the year 2002 and not because of TVBA have financial problem as someone mentioned. The title Susie Wang used for MCI 2003 was Miss Singtao Chinese 2002 from Sydney and not Miss Sydney Chinese 2002 representing Sydney. Please don't mix it up. |

Date Posted: 12:55:12 11/06/03 Thu Why the interview is in bikini... -dats actually a tradition, every ct does it except ultra small pageants like melbourne, they dun even have to wear a swimsuit at the final pageant. Some of the contestants might be more experienced, eg: Kathy Gong who had participated in pageant b4 -most questions that the judges asked were posted on our website (and this I checked with many past/present/future contestants so it was proven correct)...so if u missed it, bad luck!!! Connection are not important??? -as a matter of fact, connections play a really important role. If ur nominator is someone TVBA knows, or has business dealings with, or can use for publicity issues, then you have a better chance bcoz TVBA must give 'face' to ur nominator. -Some past/present contestants with nominator influence are: *Amy Wan (2001 1st Runner-up) - Nominator Polly Chan, chairman of Mandarin Public Relations and also an important figure at 2ac radio *Elaine Poh (2001 2nd Runner-up) - It was an ongoing rumour that Elaine's boss has close ties with TVBA bosses *Kathy Gong (2002 top 5) - Again, Polly Chan, plus she entered Miss Chinese Oriental held by Singtao previously *Vivian Qin (2002 2nd Runner-up) - The boss of Singtao was rumoured to have favoured Vivian and allowed her to enter even though she has not been in Australia for the required 6months In my opinions, somethings are fair and some are not, just take what you like ignore what you don't lah~ Plus...the gossip is good :p |

I mean, there were some really pretty girls at the interview, with a really great and open personality, and they didnt make it, yet the girls who werent as attractive, but were the last few to be interviewed (eg: number 40+) all made it, it was sooo obvious they had connections!!! And there was this girl Vicky, who made top 12, she was nominated by a sponsor of the pageant!!! the nominator was there with her at the pageant & talking to some other girl who apparently worked for her. There was two girls there who I thought rightfully deserved to be in it tho, and they were both wearing full black outfits, really tall too...those girls deserved to make it!!! Looking at her height (162cm) and features (the least attractive entrant I believe in 2002), I am surprised that she made it as far as the top 5 - let alone runner-up in another beauty pageant. But then, I have never watched the contest. So what is she like? Also, does anyone know where a tape of the 2002 contest is available? |

As I was looking at the profile and the pic, I don't found her attractive at all. but thats my opinion. Maybe ppls have seen her in real life and shes very pretty in person. |

BTW....there is a significant difference in height and measurements with this year's contestants. Also the educational levels r really high for melbourne this year... |
