Actually, I think Susie is better than most of the contestants at the pageant, the others won by backstage connections, which Susie did not have ne of (eg: HK, Malaysia, Toronto & Vancouver...they are favoured because TVB makes lots of money from these locations). And susie came top 5 in spite of all that, which proves that she has something!

Im not saying u cant speak your mind about the pageant contestants, but plz dun do it here as this is a FAN site that supports the contestants, many of whom HAVE visited this site. Including Susie herself!

I saw sum1 said u have to be 18-20 for a greater chance of winning Miss Chinese Sydney, is that true? cos im 22, body measurement 32 21 32, and height 160cm only. And im Half Vietnamese/Chinese but born in Australia. I speak Cantonese, English, Spanish and alittle Vietnamese cos im take after my dad he is more Chinese. As wif education background. I didnt do too well in me HSC, well i didnt get 99% for sure! eheheh and Im a undergraduate student studying media hoping to be an actress one day :)

There was this girl, I think she was either Miss Sydney 1995 or 1996, she won Miss Sydney the contest when she was 16 or 17 years old. Before that she also came second in the Bondi Swimsuit competition comepeting against all the blond western girls, I think its amazing that she got second. and I saw her a few time in Dolly Magazine back then, she was soo pretty, she was fully chinese ( Tawinese I think), but she doesn't have the traditional Chinese old fashion look like Susie and Miss Syd 2001, I don;t think she competed in MCI at all.

Susie went to Pymble Ladies College (which is the infamous PLC Pymble) and she received an UAI of 99.70. She got into B Law in UNSW. She was the star in her school, excelled in academy and debating!

well to be truthful, none of them are miss sydney quality. not to be mean or anything, the only ones i'd like to mention is marrie and angel and not because they are pretty but becuase (esp angel), dream photos does not reflect their true selves, angel looks a tiny cute only coz she is pretending to be trying to expand her eyes as big as possible. While marrie is the best out of them but comparing the profeesional photo and the one on the right, one could tell she is not all that gorgeous (it looks at two diff ppl), its all the make-up i tell ya and computerisation. Sowwie to be mean, just telling the undeniable truth.

On the misc page, you have a Ada vs Susie.

There is no non-combined law at UNSW (except for Graduate, I think - certainly not for undergraduate.) So, Susie MUST also be doing combined law.

Also, I don't think Ada is doing law anymore - she (according to Comunieco) is a co-op scholar, which can't be law (doesn't exist). (Co-op people can only do single degrees as well.) Anyway, with her UAI, if she did do law, she had to PAY to get in, whereas Susie got in with her UAI. (This is if that the UAIs that you (or the forums) say is correct.)

Now, just a question - why is an only child better than having a younger brother?

alina zhang was infact miss sydney 1999 ist runner up (though) it was held in december 1998 and monica wang was actaully miss sydney 1999 and came first while alina was second to her. i don't think much people knew about this but i clearly remember and got photos to prove it. I didn't understand why they called in miss syney 1999 when it was held in 1998 and sent monica to mci 1999 and alina (ist runner up) to mci 2000 coz ther were no pageant in 1999. I reember it was held in star city and was the first miss sydney i remember seeung in pay tv.
i actually got the contestant profile booklet but my auntie's friend competed in it as delegate number 1 and she took it off me to send it overseas and show relatives and i never got it back.
on the same year, the second runner up is in some commercials if anyone has seen a "hong si fu" instant noodles commercial, she is in it.

if a girl who speaks canto has a better chance in miss sydney bcoz after all, tvb are looking for new actresses and canto is a must have (i must say rachel tan's good canto contributed to her success in mci). Do you think height plays a major role as well? What about body measurements?
also would a 'true' abc (australian born chinese) help? i mean it in the sense that the delegate was actually born and raised up in australia and not hk or china and only migrated here a few years ago like ada coz her english is not that great.
is education also important in terms of uni and high school?

After seeing all the pictures of the girls who went for the interview in the past 2 years, I think some of the ones who did not make the final actually look alot better than 2 or 3 in the final. As for how well all of them answered the questions in the interviews, I dont think there were much differences between their responses, and also, only the top 5 managed to give good answers in the final. So..I'm just guessing, since there aren't much pretty girls went for Miss Sydney (or even Miss HK), probably, every year, the judges just deliberately choose the really good ones and SOME ordinary ones, and save the alright ones for the following years by encouraging them to try again etc.

did mscp 2001 ada go and crown her or she didn'y go coz this is miss singtao and miss sydney. i remember mellisa went and crowned ada but melissa didn;t get crowned by the previous year's winner coz she was busy, however, miss syndey 2000's runner ups got crowned by miss sydney 1999 respective runner ups.

coz singtao sucks, look at the make-up and promotions (hwat promotions) last year. vtb should hold it and miss sudney sounds so much better than miss singtao. plus when tvb holds it, they have better hosts.

Ada actually went to Strathfield Girls High School, instead of Canterbury Girls.

She got an UAI of 98.6 according to the TVBA magazine.

Is it true that Miss Singtao 2002 was run by Chinese Clubs from Universities in Sydney???
I go to UNSW and the there is a Hong Kong society that seems to have contributed to last year's pageant?

Also is it true that all the pageant girls are uni students from these unis? I've seen Ada Liu (2001) and some 2002 contestants around campus

Just curious, what so good about the First Runner-Up Melissa 2002?
Shes ok looking, but for sure not goodlooking, I've seen her in real life, she short, skinny, have no figure, and her nose, I don't mean to be rude, looks like a pig.
If she goes to MCI, she wouldn't stood a chance.
Susie is alot better compare to her.

I have always interested at watching beauty contests, especially Miss Sydney, but the Standard not too high.
for sure 2002 is alot better than 2001, girls are alot prettier.
2001 was the worst year ever in Sydney, some of the contestants competed in 2001, you can found alot in Chinatown every day, very average quality.
Does anyone agree with me?
I watched the 2001 show live in Fox, it was boring, most ppls left before the end of the show.
No 1: what was she doing in there? She looked Chubby
No 9 : Still wondering how she got in Top 3
No 10 : Are you sure shes only 21 years old? Very China-looking,shes not even goodlooking at all.

For 2002
I only saw the pics, and I fully agree that Susie deserved her placement, she really stood out from the others.
I don't agree with Second Runner Up, she looked like a monkey, very scary looking.
The First Runner Up Melissa wasvery cute.

Body measurements are changing all the time, like the Winners from Sydney 2000, 2001 and 2002, they body measurements are different from their info when they competed in the MCI, I mean come on theres only like 1 or two months difference, how can it changed so dramatically?
Like 2001 Ada...shes 164cm, but in MCI is 5 foot 5, is 164cm is below 5 foot 5?
Then theres Susie..her measurements in Sydney was 32-24.5-33.5 but in MCI is 33-23-35, how can you lose your wasit size but increased your bust size and hip size like that?

she is currently working in Beijing and in a few commercials eg this phone shop and some health food. The runner up for miss sydney 1999 competed in mci 2000 and the second runner up, was in a commercial, some noodle one. i have some pics, which i could scan and give it to you, if you want it
miss sydney 2000- got heaps of info on that and the promotional booklet, with the winner at mci 2001. her oficial pic, her pic with aaron kwok, pics with her and other australian delegates like miss chinese melbourner (mhk finalist 2002 amanda boll) and miss brisbane (which got mci miss internet popularity that year) and many other pics eg when she was performing.
also got pics of the crowning of miss sydney 2000 and an interview with her, and special interview tih miss sydney 2001 and her baby photos and when she was younger (i must say that she is not all that gorgoeus)

no 8- Georgia Wu from 2000 went to the same high school as 2001 winner ada liu, which was Strathfield Girls High
Elaine Poh, Ada and various other past miss sydney now do this beauty program on chinese pay tv. Miss HK 2nd rnner up 2000, marie lau was also on that beauty program.
