I had a look at the page due to curiosity inspired from this thread and discovered that I too was a nominee in one of the categories which is always pleasing and encouraging for a writer and of course for which I'm grateful.
But I am slightly confused as well. This is the second such awards 'presentation' this year which seems to have sprung out of the blue. I was not aware of the nomination process, the voting stages or, in fact, the existence of these awards until after the fact. There is no clue as to who the 'guild' is that have created 'Abaloney' only that 'guild members' voted for the individual stories. There does not seem to be any indication on how one becomes a 'guild member'. (The title is reminiscent of Marion Z Bradley's Darkover stories..) Unless I didn't see it on the website, of course!
While I absolutely applaud energy and effort put into our tiny corner of the fanfic universe which creates fun and interest, it would be lovely to be informed ahead of times of these events so that we could all participate. There are wonderful writers and stories which I'm sure we would all like to nominate and a more open process would add to the fun for all of us.
