L.A. Times is a cheap rag with little original material, and even that seldom has anything of substance. I don't know why anyone would read it in the first place. USA Today has more real news and worthwhile read. As for its political activity, the unsubstanciated reports about Schwartzenegger that they ran a week before election has done it for me. This incident has clearly shown that they manipulate the public opinion for the benefit of ultra-LIEberals, and as a paper have an absolute zero of journalistic integrity.
