Dear Friends,

Just a quick note to say hello and to extend to you and the community you serve, our sincerest thank you for your help during the past year. Truly without the involvement of those who read your e-mails we would have not been able to assist the number of families we did. In addition to food, eye glasses, shoes, clothing and blankets, we are now also helping with dental expenses as so many families just don't have the money to take care of these needs. Children who have not been eating properly are suffering from many dental problems caused by malnourishment. We have also been asked to try to raise money for seniors who don't have enough funds to purchase their medications.

Our requests for funds to feed hungry families, and for warm winter clothing have been answered by so many warm, compassionate people. We thank you all. But we must report that the needs are sadly growing. Last year we sent out 66 food parcels for Rosh Hashana: this year the number has reached 90 and yes, the phones continue to ring with more and more people needing help.

We are posting stories regularly to http://www.lamedvuvnik.org/ and hope that everyone will check out this web site to know what is really happening in Tsfat. Please select True Stories, Rena Tzfat to read our latest news. This also a secure web site and donations can be made there.

All donations are welcome and used immediately. If you have a specific request for the funds to be used in a specific area, it will be. All our work is done by volunteers and so we have no overhead at all. All the money is used to help.

As last year, the needs are still great for those coming to Israel to bring us warm winter clothing, sweaters, blankets etc. It would be best if the travelers were coming to Tsfat or at least to Northern Israel as we don't have cars and it's hard for us to arrange a pickup for the items. In addition to the regular families needing help we have many new Ethiopian families in Tsfat who have arrived with almost no extra clothing especially for young children. We tried to have a container of clothing sent to us but the cost of importing used clothing is just astronomical and we cannot afford to take money from our food fund to pay for it which is why we ask people to bring things with them. Anyone coming to Israel is welcome to write me at: reco@isdn.net.il to find out the best way to arrange a pickup.
