Subject: Letter to Wiesenthal Center re Ad in Anti-Israel LA Times

To The Simon Wiesenthal Center:

Though I am very much a supporter of the general work of the Simon Wiesenthal Center and an admirer of Simon Wiesenthal himself, Z"L, I was very disappointed to see the advertisement for the SWC's memorial service in his honor, in the anti-Israel Los Angeles Times today (Sunday Sep. 25, page 11). I expect better of an institution which seeks our Tzedaka dollars and is entrusted to spend those dollars furthering Jewish interests.

The LA Times is a viscerally anti-Israel newspaper with an unrelenting PLO agenda. On the same date as your advertisement, the LA Times published a report on the recent flare-up of PLO terrorism without mentioning the responsibility of Abbas for stopping it (9/25/05, page 3). Just the day before, they had suggested that Israel was responsible for the explosion at a Hamas rally, and impliedly justified the terrorists raining down rockets on Sderot (9/24/05, page 3).

I wonder what Simon Wiesenthal would have thought of the LA Times whitewashing Palestinian responsibility for their terrorism. I wonder also what he would have thought of the 'NAZI' illustration which the LA Times published last year to suggest, in a very underhanded way, that Israel was a 'Nazi' state.

Is your ad in the LA Times payback for their tribute to Simon Wiesenthal? If so, then you are trading the welfare of Jews in Israel for those of Jews in Los Angeles. I find that unacceptable.

As you are aware, there is currently a boycott of the LA Times going on because of its anti-Israel bias. I support that boycott. Your ad violates the boycott.

I have donated to SWC in the past. But no more.

I will not have once cent of my donations going to fund ads in the anti-Israel LA Times. I therefore must ask you to please remove my name from your mailing list and stop sending me requests for Tzedaka. I will in future give to organizations which can be entrusted not to squander the money on sources of anti-Israel propaganda.
