We were very disturbed to receive your email and to see us cited in the �Join the Boycott� website as �a supporter of KPFK.�

As to the allegation on the �Join the Boycott� website, it has a narrow thread of truth. In fact, Gelson�s was asked to, and did, participate in February in a single fund-raising event for KPFK after we were told that numerous other retailers (such as Whole Foods, Wild Oats, Peets Coffee, Trader Joe�s, and others) were also participating. We donated food and beverages to the event. So far as we can determine at this time, this is the only donation we have ever made to this radio station. Therefore, to call us a �supporter� of KPFK is, at best, a huge exaggeration. We, of course, knew of no real or perceived anti-Israel involvement when we made our very modest donation of food and beverages.

You must know that we would never knowingly support an organization that was demonstrably anti-Israel. Our roots in the Jewish community are deep and continuing. Our support of local Jewish charities is well-known, wide and the single food donation to KPFK is dwarfed by the amounts and support we have continuously given to Jewish causes.

We totally respect your indignation at any anti-Israel organization but hope that will not be misdirected against Gelson�s because of an exaggerated claim by this website.

We have worked hard for your loyalty and support through the years. We hope, based on our assurances to you above, we will continue to merit your goodwill.
