I appreciate that Trader Joe's requested its name be removed from the KPFK's supporters list. Thank you. KPFK actually took down its supporters page altogether yesterday and so far has not put it back.

However, I think a lot of people are disappointed that Trader Joe's is not more careful with whom it associates.

I think Trader Joe's needs to be aware of how keen the anti-semitic and extremist anti-Israel KPFK is to have the "legitimizing" influence of a major corporation like Trader Joe's on their list of supporters. They need you in order to help raise funds so that they can continue to spread their message of hatred and division towards a large portion of your customer base - those who regard themselves as friends of Israel.

While I am pleased that you have distanced yourself from KPFK, the fact is that this is a repeat of the same problem that occurred in 2007. Trader Joe's has been associating with KPFK for several years starting at least as far back as 2006.

When we discovered Trader Joe's name on the KPFK supporters list in 2007 we went through a round of protests back then, with Gelson's removing its name and then Trader Joe's. Here we are again in 2009 with Trader Joe's again donating to, and associating with, KPFK.

What a large portion of your customer base needs to hear is an assurance that Trader Joe's has taken specific steps to ensure that its stores do not give any further donations to KPFK and do not again allow Trader Joe's name to be associated with KPFK.

Have you taken such steps? And can you please tell us what they are?

If you can satisfy us that we can enter a Trader Joe's store with assurance that our customer revenues will not be given to those who seek our harm i.e. KPFK, then we can feel comfortable shopping there again. But if Trader Joe's fails to do that then we can not.
