My rope rode was on the boat when I purchased it (2003). I tried measuring w/calipers last night and it comes out to be 11/16ths, which I assume really means it's 5/8ths (seems it would thicken and loosen a bit w/age).

It's 3-brade, nylon.

STEVE, where'd you get the Calder data? Nice stuff.

Chapter 9 of his "Cruising Handbook". He has very extensive data regarding anchoring systems, techniques and gear. Good stuff.

Thanks for the good advice--9/16 triple strand it shall be.

I never thought about the stretch factor; that's a nice consideration.

It will be a relief to be rid of that 1 1/2" hawser....
