Subject: Chainplates

I'm seriously contemplating replacing the remaining 9 original chainplates this winter.

Back in 2003 I replaced three that had obvious (with a magnifying glass) hairline cracks. But I had the deck off then, which at least made the job seem easier. And I replaced the "easy" chainplates: three main lowers.

The main uppers look to be the real buggers, burried as they are in closets and bulkheads and what not.

Any obvious stumbling blocks (other than the whole effin thing) that I'm missing?

Thanks in advance,

RR
