Subject: How to post images to the Mariner Bulletin Board
In reply to: Mike Anthony 's message, "projects" on - Saturday - 06/27/09 - 3:42pm

Mike,

Greetings. Sounds like you are having a fine cruise.

If your question regards how to post photos to the Mariner Bulletin Board, here's how I've done it, based on the suggestion of someone else...

1. The board facilitates linking out to a free, third party image hosting service called ImageShack. To post photos, open a separate browser and go to: www.imageshack.us/.

2. Once there, make sure the "upload" button is defaulted to "images/videos". (It probably is, so you will likely not need to worry about this step.)

3. Click the "Browse..." button, then find and select on your computer the image you'd like to post.

4. Click the "start upload!" button. ImageShack will then pull your photo onto its site.

5. A new screen will open that shows a thumbnail of the image you've just uploaded along with several long URL strings. Highlight, then copy and paste into the Mariner post you are writing all of the URL string called "Thumbnail for Websites".

6. Click the preview button on the Mariner Bulletin Board to see a thumbnail of the picture.

You can also click the picture to enlarge it.

This is a free service. You do not need to sign in or subscribe, though subscribing will probably get rid of the many annoying advertisements. It also can be slow. So, be patient.

Fair winds,

RR

Good to hear from you, Mike. I'll look forward to seeing the pictures of your projects on Tivoli. Maybe you could also tell us about what it's like living aboard a Mariner 40 in Jacksonville. Inquiring minds want to know.

All is well up here in the Northwest. We've been able to recruit a reliable and highly-skilled crew for Ta' Ata Ori this season and we are enjoying sailing during our brief, but spactacular summer. "Livin' the dream." A not-so-ambitious dream as yours, perhaps, but just about the right scale for us.

All the best to you and Paula and Tivoli.
