Hey Steve,
I feel the same about the Mariner 32 cockpit. The 31's are more practical. I'd like to hear what you might do with your boat. Also, I've taken off my bobstay tang and should be receiveing a new tang any day now. There were three bolts attaching the tang to the hull. Two of them were rusted more then half way through. yes, you better have a look see. The bobstay tang and the ring were all one piece and my fabricator said to build the new tang with the ring on. I'll have to ask him why?
Yours truly, Kathy Campbell s\v SHADOW 32

The cockpit on the M-32 appears to be the same layout as the Mariner 35 and 36. While cockpit seats flush with the deck and extending out to the taffrails are not comfortable for day sailing, they do provide quite a bit of extra cockpit space on a small boat. If you are making a blue water passage I have found from my experience that they are quite comfortable because they allow a person to fully stretch out and sleep on cushions in the cockpit while underway when the weather allows it. This is great if you are single-handed or a crew of only two.

All your points are well taken Mike. Which is where I keep going back and forth. The boat will be primarily used for day sailing and weekending for a family of four. For sailing I don't like the lack of backrests in the cockpit but when at anchor the lounging space will be great. I'll probably keep it the way it is but I find it good to think about the possibilities before committing myself.
