Subject: dado and wood screws and 5200

1. I can't find any pictures to prove it, but if I recall correctly, the lower inside corner of the hatch frame has a 1/2" dado that allows it to fit snugly into the hole you cut into the deck. No grooving is cut in the deck; it's just a simple, square hole.

2. The hatch is fastened to the deck with wood screws and a generous helping of 3M 5200 (shockingly innovative, no?). The wood screws fasten from underneath, i.e. through the deck and into the hatch frame. Again, if I recall, we used #8 1 1/2" screws about every 2 inches.
