Subject: Giving up on my Mariner 35

Sad to say, but I'm giving up on trying to restore my Mariner 35, Amistad. I'm donating her via Freecycle to anyone who'll take her over. The speed at which repairs are proceeding hasn't kept up with Mother Nature's speed at growing dry rot.

So - anyone need some sails (I've got six of them, including a mizzen drifter)? An oven/range? RVG autotiller? Anthing else off a Mariner?

A diesel engine?

I have just purchased a 1972 M40 without an engine, I would be interested.

Mark,

How about asking Wooden Boat Magazine if they'll put her on their "Old Glories looking for a Good Home and a lot of work" back page. (That's not the right name for the page, but I can't remember it. It's in every month.)

Too bad she's so far gone. I think the M35s are the prettiest of our whole line. Your photos of her are stunning.

Good luck.

RR

I'm totally restoring a mariner 35 and have been for 3 years now . I 'm curios what problems has prevented you from continuing . Every thing made of ply failed so I removed the deck, transom, cabin tops, and most of the bulkheads. The planking was in good shape but many frames had failed. 64 sister frames and splices have been installed. The boat is going back together beatifully and is going to be a gem. I may beable to us some items like; the head sink, winches ,tanks, the head cabinets etc. Let me know whats left. Robert Madsen
