Subject: prop in an M31
In reply to: Joe 's message, "prop size for mariner 36" on - Thursday - 05/12/05 - 6:25am

I have the same engine in an M31. I have a 1:1 tranny and a 12 x 6 three blade prop. Lotta folks on this board seem to have 2:1 in which case the 13 x 8 prop seems to work very well. (I have had a 13 x 8 on mine but could only get low rpms with it. Lotsa speed, but low rpms.)

I don't know what tranny to expect in a 36.

Thanks for the help.. I think I have a 2:1 but need to find out for sure..I was thinking the 13x8 sounded more reasonable..but wanted to make sure it was ok with the 36. On the tayana site it looked like all the tayana37's had the 18x10 so I dont know if the yard was just putting them on everything they were making at that time or what.
