Yes, dry rot is a problem, or mare accurately, water getting areas it shouldn’t and can't dry out. I’m currently in the process of installing new counter tops and I’ve encountered allot of it (gangway bulkhead). Of course, the only solution is remove all rotten and replace. I’m replacing any I can with teak or marine ply, in that it holds up well against wetness. The best advice I would have is, look to see if you can determine where the water came from, and how to stop that. “Water always wins”.
