Suzie,

Here’s a mast specs clue.

As you may know, Far East yachts built the H-28 for years. And so I’m supposing that in drawing up the M31/32, Oberly drew heavily on H-28 elements (along w/Garden’s 35 ft ketch, which he also built).

To that end, I was thumbing through SENSIBLE CRUISING DESIGNS by L Francis Herreshoff the other day in which there is an essay on H-28 construction. Interestingly, on pg. 26 and 27 you will find detailed drawings of both main and mizzen design. Additionally, there are drawings for the mast head hardware. Both drawings are nearly identical to the masts and hardware on my M31. Obviously, “idendical” refers to design, proportion, construction, and materials—NOT to measurements. Again, if you’ve got mast height and measurements for the base, it seems the rest will follow.

Don’t know where you are in the process of replacing your sticks, but thought this might help.

RR
