Subject: "Header" under main mast step

Suggestion when the cabin top is off:
Compression from the main mast is carried by (in my case) two through bolted, parallel beams running athwart
with questionable marginal modular. My solution was (1)remove the decking beyond the mast step (2) route a recess across the top of the two beams(headers)(3) remove the bolts joining the members and cut a vertical grove (picture available). I fabricated a "T" member of 3/8" stainless that conformed to the configuration of the cabin top layed a thick bed of marine 'Bondo'and dropped same in place. Now the compression is picked up by the "T" and further transmitted to the the walls of the 'head' and the hanging locker. That was in 1983 and a simple operation if you have the cabin top off.
