Hello Mark,
Wish I could help you with your question, but the info I have on the early 31's is sketchy.Perhaps you can help me.I've owned my Mariner 31--VALERIAN--for nearly 20 yrs. She's clippered bowed, has trailboards, and was designed by Bill Garden.Hull#82,built in fiberglass. How about you?I bet she's spoon-bowed-no trailboards.Who designed her?
John T.

Hey John, thanks for the reply. You're right about my boat, she's the standard hull configuration shown in the sales brochure. Infact I didn't even know about the clipper bow, or the '32 with the taffrails until I found the site. As far as the designer of my '31, I think it's the same hull as yours, which as you say "Gardner" designed. As far as my original question about the 1st production glass hull, I know from the sales brochure that 6 prototypes were built and changes made before the mold was made. And from the info. about Mr.Oberly I see he started the glass '31 in 1968. Maybe someone with a hull from #50, or #55 will tell me if they are glass, or wood. Thanks again, Mark

You guys are confusing me (I'm confused enough as it is) :-)

We went through hell to gather the history we're posting on the website. Garden designs, clipper bows, wood, glass, etc etc etc. It's all in there. Go through the info on the website and if it's not there, then we'll
what we can do :)

BTW, John, (just to set the record straight).......Bill Garden never claimed to be the designer of the Mariner 31. I (personally) had ask him that same question and his answer was "NO".

Best,
Bill Kranidis
