Subject: Cabin Wiring?

I have some cabin lights that no longer work. I've diagnosed some as some faulty/broken wiring before the light fixture. I am curious if anyone knows where the wiring is led through? through the bulkheads and then around the cabin top sides?? Many thanks in advance to any leads.

If you are speaking about the cabin overhead light, the wiring is run through a small deck penetration (starboard below the house sidewall), into a groove in the corner support knee frame, then run through a mahogony 1/4 angle exposed on the ceiling. I had to pull a new wire throught the knee groove. I can send photos if you like.

Here's how it is on Murre...

For example, the cabin light that’s affixed to the midships bulkhead on the starboard side runs like this--
-From the light into the bulkhead
-Through the bulkhead and into a wire tray under the grab rail
(Look under the grab rail and you should see a 2" wide varnished flashing that runs the entire length of the cabin and is held in place by small brass brads. Pop it off and you should see all the wires for this light, for the head light, Vberth light on the stbd side, and bow running lights.)
-Along wire tray all the way to aft cabin bulkhead where is knocked an effective but unceremonious hole leading to my batteries in the engine compartment.

The wire tray is very accessible for the entire length of the boat. Rigging new wire through the bulkhead will take some fiddling. I’d imagine you’ll need to messenger it… but haven't done it, so don’t know.

Hope that helps.
