I checked mine today. They are rounded to fit the mast.

Wow, it looks we have two Mikes with M40s, hello Mike where are you at? Mike, when you say rounded, do you mean that the base is not flat and secure against the mast? I am going to the boat today and I will check the spreader plate. Also Lawrence, Capt and owner of Ta' Ata Ori has taken some pics for me and will send to me to look at. I do apprecicate the feedback Randall and Mike, and again Randall, your post on the spreader fabrication is fantastic. I am almost finished with the mizzen spreaders and cant wait to post pics. As I look at as many pics of Mariners as possible it appears that some are the "swinging" type and some are the secured type. Without a lot of knowledge in this area I think I would rather have the non swinging type. Unless someone can explain why the 40 would or needs the swinging type. I do understand the basic reasoning behind the swinging type, I just wonder if the M40 was designed for that type? Oh well enough rambling - I hope all have a great weekend.

Thanks

Good morning, Mike. I took 27 photos of Ta' Ata Ori this weekend -- deck, rigging, spreaders, cockpit, bowsprit area, etc. I'll be sending them to you via snail mail soon. Prints and a photo CD for your viewing pleasure. I hope they will be helpful to you, as you work on Tivoli. Good luck with the project and let me know if I can be of further help.

As I said before, "you are the man" - I can't thank you enough. It will be like waiting for Christmas, waiting to receive the pics!! 52 years old and I am still a big kid.

Again thanks
