[> [> Wind Generator Mounting -- Mike Cox, - Thursday - 06/29/06 - 6:30pm

My Mariner has dual main mast backstays that are split at the masthead. I had a huge wind generator that was mounted on the mizzen with a U-shaped bracket like Bill mentioned, but it was also supported by a tube/bar running between each of the dual backstays and two additional mounting bars running between the backstay tube/bar and the U-shaped mounting bracket. Confusing? Perhaps I need to look for a picture. It was very stable, but I always felt like I was back in the Marine Corps in a helo LZ when that thing was running! I took it down and just use it from the taff rail when under way as a water driven generator.
