Here's his obit-
Services Sunday for local radio personality
MANITOWOC — The funeral service for William Zummach, 84, will be at 4 p.m. Sunday at Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home, North 11th and St. Clair streets. He died Thursday at North Ridge Medical & Rehabilitation Center.
He was known as Bill Walters to listeners of several radio stations in Wisconsin, including WCUB in Manitowoc and WKTT in Cleveland. He was on the air with WCUB, as chief announcer and farm director, for nearly 30 years, retiring in 1992. "He was a mainstay for us and a really nice man," WCUB-WLTU owner Lee Davis said Friday.
Davis recalled that Walters, while a DJ for a Green Bay station, was one of the last to interview Ritchie Valens and Buddy Holly, before their Feb. 3, 1959 plane crash, killing the performers along with J.P. "Big Bopper" Richardson.
"Bill was one of the few radio announcers who didn't have an ego the size of Mt. Rushmore," Dave Dunn, a WOMT staff announcer said Friday. "He had a big heart and in a pinch, he would be there for you."
"He was very well-known and respected by members of the agriculture community," said Mark Heller, owner of WGBW in Two Rivers.
The family will great relatives and friends at the funeral home beginning at 2 Sunday afternoon.
