Buddy, as stated by Mr. Griggs who has seen the disk, had deeply scratched the disk in a spoke like fashion. To me it would seem impossible to recover the song from the scored portions of the disk. I could be wrong but by scratching the surface he would have displaced the original etching, possibly removing it completely. I know very little about the actual recording process of these disks, how the sound is etched etc. But if they are anything like a regular record I would think by running an object over these etched portions of the disks with the intent to destroy that the surface underneath the scratch would no longer contain any recognizable audio. Just my thought.
