Hi David

I most certainly agree with everything in your post.

beyond a waste of time is the element of altered history,
defaced art, and total disrespect.

If we sit down to watch Citizen Kane or 2001 a space odyssey with a younger relative, don't we want their
impression of those 2 works of art to be based on the same
presentation as all previous generations? (as the original cast and crew's vision intended)

I can possibly agree with enhancing the existing work with improved audio or a clearer transfer of the original video elements, but colorizing Kane, or replacing the ground breaking special effects in 2001 with modern computerized
scenes would be intolerable and unthinkable.

Just as the Picks would have saved themselves a great deal
of bad karma had they simply recorded a tribute album with their own lead vocals, the producers of these demeaning
"symphonic" versions should have avoided stinkifying the original Holly classics, and simply found sincere, well meaning vocalists to to record them from scratch. (no, not the "insert T.V. talent show here" flavour of the month singers,
but genuine admirers of Buddy's unique talents)

Anyone who reads this board could come up with several
good suggestions, but I digress.
