I am sure in your countries you had some Holly songs which were 'double sided' hits.
We did in Australia and probably the most famous one was 'Peggy Sue/Everyday'.
According to charts here 'Peggy Sue' rose to number 2 and 'Everyday' rose to number 14 even though they were on the same record, Coral CK 3601.
Top 40 charts in Australia at that time were mainly assessed on sales from various large record retailers but there were other factors involved, including, for some reason, sheet music sales.
Can somebody please explain to this not so bright antipodean how these 'individual' sales were assessed?
Example: How did they know if 'Peggy Sue' or 'Everyday' was the side which sold the record. This has always puzzled me.
